A mural behind Pop-A-Top

Pop A Top, 2 E University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601.

Nick Kuszyk aka RROBOTS did this piece in 2013 along with one more mural at The Wooly for the F.L.A. Gallery. In order to find this mural you have to go through the entrance behind Pop A Top. Nick was born in North Dakota, currently lives and works in one of the epicenters of street art, Bushwick, Brooklyn. His work can be easily recognized from his mechanical friends – robots. In addition to painting murals Kuszyk is also a children’s book author, having published R. Robot Saves Lunch.

The GNV Urban Art initiated a so-called ‘Repurpose Project’: we asked one good store to donate us some paint, we invited one good artist to create a mural and we turned something old and abandoned (the old paint) in a new beautiful artwork for people to enjoy!

Imagined Agency by Sean Mahan

Sean Mahan is a social realist figurative painter who works with graphite and acrylic washes on wood to depict a sense of wonder about the innate warmth of the human character and its conflict with structures of power and control. The mural was done for the solo show “Imagined Agency” at Display Gallery in April of 2014.

Steven Speir grew up in Birmingham, Alabama.  He spent the past seven years with his wife in Philadelphia and recently relocated to Gainesville. Large, flat, color fields and shapes. Colorful and simplistic characters.
